Mr & Mrs Barber

Mr and Mrs Barber first visited our Horndean showroom in 2021, looking to replace the windows in their charming cottage. After exploring the available options, they chose to install timber flush casement windows throughout the property, finished internally and externally in a beautiful Cyprys stain.

Following their positive experience with the window installation, the Barbers returned to Timber Windows Southern in search of a new timber front door. Having reviewed the range of designs available, they selected the elegant Westonbirt front door, factory-painted in Keswick Lead (RAL 7009) on both the interior and exterior.

To complement the new entrance door, aged brass ironmongery from From The Anvil was specified. As this is an unlacquered finish, the hardware will naturally oxidise and develop a richer patina over time, gradually darkening and enhancing its character.

Using engineered timber keeps the beautiful and tactile qualities of traditional wood but avoids the innate expansion and contraction issues that can occur from using solid wood.  Engineered (multi-layered) timber is created by layering wood sections, with the grain of one section being layered in the opposing direction to the grain of its neighbour. Cleverly layering in this manner ensures any movement caused by absorption of moisture is evened out.

This leads to stronger, longer lasting windows and doors. Making sure they stay a perfect fit-just as the day they were installed.
