Mr & Mrs Holderness

Mr and Mrs Holderness began looking for replacement windows and doors for their property in a village near Winchester. Due to the wide variety of window styles and sizes that had been installed over the years, they required a bespoke solution that would bring consistency to the appearance of their home while respecting its character.

Reflecting on the completed project, Mr Holderness commented:

The windows and doors are exceptionally well fitted, and it is so good to have continuity throughout the property now, as there were so many different windows originally installed. I am particularly pleased with the double glazing and the quality of the engineered timber."

The customers chose to have the majority of the windows and doors finished in White (RAL 9003). To create a distinctive entrance, the Belbroughton front door sash was finished in Lake View, complemented by a White (RAL 9003) frame and a cill finished in a Wenge stain.

Using engineered timber keeps the beautiful and tactile qualities of traditional wood but avoids the innate expansion and contraction issues that can occur from using solid wood.  Engineered (multi-layered) timber is created by layering wood sections, with the grain of one section being layered in the opposing direction to the grain of its neighbour. Cleverly layering in this manner ensures any movement caused by absorption of moisture is evened out.

This leads to stronger, longer lasting windows and doors. Making sure they stay a perfect fit-just as the day they were installed.
