Mr & Mrs Heather
Mr and Mrs Heather discovered Timber Windows Southern online and quickly felt the company met all their requirements for a sensitive renovation project. They were looking to replace all the windows in their listed property in West Sussex, making it essential that the new installations complemented the building’s character.
The customers chose timber cottage casement windows along with a stable door, all finished in an off-white shade (RAL 9010). Both the windows and door were fitted with 14mm slim double glazing, putty glazed to maintain a traditional appearance in keeping with the property.
To complete the look, Mr and Mrs Heather selected black ironmongery from From The Anvil. The windows were fitted with monkey tail handles and peg stays, while the stable door features a matching cottage handle, adding to the overall period charm.
Using engineered timber keeps the beautiful and tactile qualities of traditional wood but avoids the innate expansion and contraction issues that can occur from using solid wood. Engineered (multi-layered) timber is created by layering wood sections, with the grain of one section being layered in the opposing direction to the grain of its neighbour. Cleverly layering in this manner ensures any movement caused by absorption of moisture is evened out.
This leads to stronger, longer lasting windows and doors. Making sure they stay a perfect fit-just as the day they were installed.
