Located in a Hampshire city, Mr Peake was looking to upgrade his front door and was recommended by a neighbour to visit Timber Windows Southern.
After exploring the range, he selected a ‘Bevington’ front door, which features flat panels with elegant bolection mouldings. The frame is finished in ‘White (RAL 9003)’, while the door sash and cill are completed in ‘Anthracite (RAL 7016)’, creating a striking contrast.
Mr Peake-Jones also chose charming aged brass hardware from From the Anvil. Crafted from solid, unlacquered brass, this aged brass finish offers a wealth of character and is perfectly suited to traditional and period properties.
The finish undergoes an accelerated ageing process, resulting in a rich, dark patina that settles into the edges and recesses, beautifully contrasted by re-polished surfaces.
Using engineered timber keeps the beautiful and tactile qualities of traditional wood but avoids the innate expansion and contraction issues that can occur from using solid wood. Engineered (multi-layered) timber is created by layering wood sections, with the grain of one section being layered in the opposing direction to the grain of its neighbour. Cleverly layering in this manner ensures any movement caused by absorption of moisture is evened out.
This leads to stronger, longer lasting windows and doors. Making sure they stay a perfect fit-just as the day they were installed.
