Traditional Charm Restored with Timber Sash Windows in Winchester

Located in the historic city of Winchester, Mr. and Mrs. Whiteway set out to restore their period property with features that would honour its traditional charm. Wanting to preserve its authentic character, they decided that timber was the only choice for their new windows.

"We visited the Winchester showroom as it is only down the road from us and we were highly recommended by friends." explained Mrs Whiteway.

The couple opted for classic timber sash windows, finished in a clean, crisp white (RAL 9003) on the interior. For the exterior, they chose a sophisticated London Grey (RAL 7005), creating a timeless contrast. To complete the look, each window was complemented with elegant antique pewter hardware.

Using engineered timber keeps the beautiful and tactile qualities of traditional wood but avoids the innate expansion and contraction issues that can occur from using solid wood.  Engineered (multi-layered) timber is created by layering wood sections, with the grain of one section being layered in the opposing direction to the grain of its neighbour. Cleverly layering in this manner ensures any movement caused by absorption of moisture is evened out.

This leads to stronger, longer lasting windows and doors. Making sure they stay a perfect fit-just as the day they were installed.
