Traditional Charm Restored with Timber Sash Windows in Newbury
Located in the picturesque town of Newbury, Mr and Mrs Urwin decided it was time to upgrade their ageing uPVC windows. Seeking a more authentic and timeless look in keeping with the character of their home, the couple opted for classic timber sash windows.
"We wanted to install timber sash windows at the property as they are traditional and suit the property much better," explained Mr Urwin.
The couple selected a clean, crisp white finish (RAL 9003) for the frames, bringing a fresh and elegant appearance to the home’s exterior. For the bathroom, they chose the stylish "Canterbury" etched glass design, offering both privacy and aesthetic appeal.
To complete the look, the windows were fitted with polished stainless steel hardware—combining durability with a touch of modern sophistication.
Using engineered timber keeps the beautiful and tactile qualities of traditional wood but avoids the innate expansion and contraction issues that can occur from using solid wood. Engineered (multi-layered) timber is created by layering wood sections, with the grain of one section being layered in the opposing direction to the grain of its neighbour. Cleverly layering in this manner ensures any movement caused by absorption of moisture is evened out.
This leads to stronger, longer lasting windows and doors. Making sure they stay a perfect fit-just as the day they were installed.
