"The installers that fitted the door were smooth and professional. We are absolutely delighted with the door and service from Timber Windows Southern, we could not praise them enough."

Mr & Mrs Wallington

Mr & Mrs Wallington live in a 1930's house located on the south coast. When they purchased the house, it had an old timber door that was bought cheaply by the previous owner. The house was previously not treated well at all and needed completely gutting out. "The owners at the time tried to sell the house, so they made good, as quickly and as cheaply as they could in order to get the property in a sellable condition".

"There were huge gaps on the previous door, that let water into the porch. The old door was not safe at all, it would often get stuck." The customers recalled an awkward exchange on the day when they collected the keys for the property, as the front door got stuck on that day so Mr Wallington had to climb over the fence to let himself into the house via the back door.

The customers discovered Timber Windows Southern online and visited the Horndean showroom shortly after. Mr & Mrs Wallington dealt with Ian Regan at the showroom, who they couldn't praise higher. "Ian was very patient, informative, he helped advise on different styles and colours. He advised the black door colour due to the style and age of the house. At first we weren't sure about the black, but now we are so glad that we chose it."

"I am an engineer, so for me, having a door that is both aesthetically pleasing and mechanically pleasing, is everything"

Using engineered timber keeps the beautiful and tactile qualities of traditional wood but avoids the innate expansion and contraction issues that can occur from using solid wood.  Engineered (multi-layered) timber is created by layering wood sections, with the grain of one section being layered in the opposing direction to the grain of its neighbour. Cleverly layering in this manner ensures any movement caused by absorption of moisture is evened out.

This leads to stronger, longer lasting windows and doors. Making sure they stay a perfect fit-just as the day they were installed.
